Fomo Stu's Holiday Blues by Bart
Time Played: about 10 minutes
Overall Gameplay (1.5 / 13 points)
- Player Experience: 1.5/10
- Mechanical Polish: 0/3
Comments: The README indicated that this game wasn't quite finished, although I have to say I was still hoping that there would be a bit more content! It seems like there are two pretty simple minigames, and that nothing really happens at the end of them other than having to restart the game in order to regain control of your character. The first minigame seemed functional but it took a while before I figured out what I was supposed to do. I had no idea what was going on in the second minigame. The README mentions exploring the map, which I did a bit... but I might've had a bit more patience to do so if my character didn't move so brutally slowly! I was holding down "run" for essentially the entire playthrough and I still felt like a snail.
Theme Inclusion (2 / 6 points)
Comments: The intro seemed like it made some attempt to connect to the theme? The rest of the game felt completely unrelated though.
Overall Presentation (4 / 10 points)
- General Presentation: 1.5/4
- Quality of Graphics: 1.5/4
- Quality of Audio: 1/2
Comments: I did like the intro! But beyond that the presentation was quite rusty and much of the time I didn't know what was happening or what I was supposed to do. I have an appreciation for hand-drawn graphics, especially when they all work together well to present a consistent theme, but they weren't exactly polished.
Final comments: I don't think I have much more to say, it's just unfortunate that this game wasn't developed to completion.
