Airstrikey Shark by Mightyjor

Time Played: about 14 minutes

Overall Gameplay (6 / 13 points)

Comments: The README suggests that this game is very unfinished, but I was glad to see a complete gameplay loop! This feels like a reimagined Battleship which is neat. I thought the map was far too big though. It felt like ages of using sonar before I could get the map down to a point where I could start actually forcing my opponent's hand. So while I think the underlying concept is cool, it definitely needs refining. I was very surprised to see that sonar and strikes had unlimited range. At first I was trying to divulge my opponent's position using the locations of their moves but clearly that was pointless. A limited range would add at least a little risk to blind-firing. The right click to pan was nice but didn't reach far enough!

Theme Inclusion (0 / 6 points)

Comments: I don't see any attempt to connect to the theme.

Overall Presentation (4 / 10 points)

Comments: The GUI was nice! The font was a bit wonky though. Sixes in particular looked quite strange. I do wish there was more general detail about gameplay baked into the game. It took me a while to figure out that sonars worked for both players. Graphics were definitely passable! There was a consistent theme and it was executed on pretty well. I couldn't tell where exactly the board started and stopped though. No audio.

Final comments: Give this game some more time in the oven and I'm sure it ends up being a great entry!
